Geochronology Summer School
CH-QUAT supports the 'Geochronology Summer School'. The summer school is offered every year and provides an overview of dating techniques in the environemental sciences.
Each year, the summer school offers an impressive grasp of dating techniques in the environmental sciences to 20 international participants - mainly PhD students and postdocs. More than a dozen lecturers share their expertise in a variety of geochronology techniques: dendrochronology, radiocarbon, exposure dating using cosmogenic nuclides, stable isotopes, palaeomagnetism, palaeosoils and loess stratigraphies. The week of the summer school combines lectures in a mountain hotel and field activities in the Bernina mountain range, including a visit of the Morteratsch glacier. The summer school organizers aim to provide up-to-date, multidisciplinary knowledge on geochronology techniques to affordable prices in the heart of Swiss Alps.
